烈日当空，我还在空旷无人的大街上随意踱步，阳光之下，柏油路面微微的反光也看似在拂动，路两边，两排低矮的房屋笔直地延伸着。这块平凡是一人影打破的，当我意识到那人为我而来时。

他奔来，似是被实体追逐的狼狈模样，见他喘着几口大气，仓仓而来，就像多年前我见到的他似的。

或许是出于曾经的一许默契之言，我将他稳稳地拉住了。

“许久未见。”他在我之前开了口。“十分庆幸你还有曾经那劲。”

长期未与他者交流，我有些拘谨，不过迟了几秒答应道，

“渊，”

“直入主题吧。”

“或许你已听说那位寻博士的病故，作为M.E.G.为数不多的科研站点创立者，他或许还有一些有把握的成果需要公之于众。”

我料到他会这样说，我们曾经一同在“长河”站点工作过半年，也算是积累了些许友谊。尽管我已退出研究数月，但他似乎还是我记忆中的那样。

“我认为自己有义务带你见点东西，老同学。”

随他走入大门，又沿着长廊走了好一段时间，直到尽头，他艰难地拉开一扇复古的木门，进入其中。

内部的陈设十分平凡，草草放置着几套机械，最引人注目的则是一块异常洁白的墙面。站点似乎与我数月前离开时没有多少改变。

“自从先生两周前自行离开直到现在，这里还没有人来过。”渊小声道了一句，“设备之类的可能有些积灰。”

我大概知晓他特地带我前来的目的，但心头仍有一些疑点。我刚想与渊搭话，却发现他不知何时已不见行踪。数秒有余，我听见十多米远处另一房间内传来阵阵翻找物品的扑腾与金属制品碰撞所发出的刮擦声。

“干，这东西真不好使。”

又是几声埋怨后，渊灰头土脸地小跑而来，手中捧着一叠像是纸质资料的东西。

“这些……是他近两年的研究成果。”

Level BY-100通常指代全后室空间的统合，除此之外，一切曾用的层级编号均已不再适用。

Level BY-100涵盖后室一切层级、房间乃至虚空的现在态，其环境与危险度不一，部分区域已到达可长期聚居的地步。生活在Level BY-100的人类数量不下百万，其大多分布在安全区域，如无垠城、不安都、慰藉处等“格”区域。

多域之间关系可视化表现

严格来说，虚空、破碎之地、蓝色通道等基层区域独立于后室，其将被特殊划分，但仍属于Level BY-100。

置身后室之中，我们多少都想过一些事情——后室的本源是什么？为什么这里被一众称为“后室”？
首先，我们需要理清一下原则。当人们要建造一栋房屋，他们最先要造的既不是前厅，也不是后室，而是支撑整栋房屋的坚实地基。而这所谓的“基础”便是相对后室空间中更高维度的存在——即时间。
但后室中的时间概念并不是打在坚实的地面下，它其实是一条湍急的河流，而我们则是河面上的一列木筏。后室中一切都充满着不确定性，就连时间流速也不是统一，谁知道什么时候木筏会翻，然后永久沉没在这条时间长河里。
但我们都知道，过去是真实发生的，只要我们还记得，那些往事就在你的主观意识中存在。它们是发生过的，但我们无法回溯。


这就是时间的一大遗憾之处。


我们总想着当时钟开始倒走时就能回到过去，而时间流逝的本质是变化的事物，明天的太阳还会照常升起，但它再次升起时的各项参数不会还是今天的，它总有一些微妙的变化，这只是其中一个例子，而整个混沌的后室更是如此。

“我大概理解当初他并未阻拦我离职的原因了。”

回过神来，渊低声叹气了几下。

“撰写完这20万字，他不过多时就死了。一部分人指责他的痴心妄想与不屑，骂他是个彻头彻尾的疯子，但他本人还是默默把数据上传，然后离开站点回到Level C-8无声地死了，人们跟踪他最后一次上传所在的位置找到了死去两天的他。终其一生死死研究如何回到岸边的学者最后纵身跃入了湍急的长河之中。”

…

“他将逐渐走出大众的视线，但他走不出时间，或他所说的Level BY-94。即使化为尘土，甚至分解为基本粒子——也始终处在‘现在’时间线上。”

“按他所说，时间困住我们了。或许没那么糟，但这激发了我们的好奇与探索欲，时间之外是什么？是永恒的死寂与静止还是基于一种我们从未接触到的模因建立的世界？人类发展的重要原因是探索，就像百万年前的前厅人类祖先开始走出非洲、初入后室的流浪者自发组队并探索后室深处……”

他激动，他滔滔不绝，好似一个在精神病院疯狂诉说病态理论的病人。

“但我们不知道将它窥尽的代价，因为它的跨度实在太大了，可能致使整个后室文明遭到毁灭性的打击。”

我还是快速理清了他的这一番话，它并不难理解，但听起来荒诞不经。

“——窥清……我能想到的方式就是跨维度了，就像那片实体侵占的沙漠了。”

“是的，但我们不是那些高维实体，它们也不大可能有逃出去的欲望，这便是事情的棘手之处。”他的回答在我的意料之中。

“不过……或许我们可以边走边聊。”

走出建筑，被阳光持续照射的道路仍然滚烫。

“你的野心是我敬佩的，或许你肩负了不少。”我试探性地发起一个话题，然后准备理解他的大番话。

“博士离开前让我担任队长了，我希望自己能尽责任，”中途他深呼吸了一次，然后抬起头，若有所思。

“队里还有三十多人，不过我让他们都回去歇息了。”

“其实，”我将话接回来，“我想知道你的过去。”

“过去。”渊呆滞了一刻，又在分毫间反应回来。这句话好像触发了他什么，直至我知晓自己可能不该提这一嘴。

“我可能很少这么说，但我从未见过父母一回，打小就是个彻头彻尾的流浪儿。至于加入站点——”

“——老寻是个好心人，他当初收养了我一段时间，当我到了干事的年纪，也随着他做起了‘长河’周边的研究。当时是——两年前。”

我有些恍惚，先前的闲意已荡然无存。

“曾经的创立者不会回来了，但我心头总有一阵悸动，或许我们还能找到一条出路。成功也好，失败也罢，我想试一试。”

各层群切行路线失效现象暴增

经多部门计算得知，12月31日出入口失效层级数达12月1日的2.6倍，一些人迹罕至的层级开始出现切行失败报告。近一周各组织接收此类报告数新增约103,000例，约有2,100处出入口失效，58个层级出入口完全失效……
